A Personal Letter to my Queen
It is a bleak moment for us all knowing you are no more. Thank you for being in my life for its entirety singing “God save the Queen” from an infant to my age now. Always there, always our regal head of state but over the recent years, you have held a more and more warm space in my British heart.
You and my own mother looked quite similar and after I lost my Mum, unbeknownst to you, you kind of became a mother by proxy. When I saw you on the Telly it reminded me so much of Pat my Mum that some of my love transferred to you. I had that glow of family when I saw the various news casts which are woven into my persona over these past 5 decades. Being reminded of my own mother was something unexpected and wonderful.
Now you too have been taken, so the rawness returns. I have a pain in my chest and don’t really know what to do except “carry on” as you would say. You sacrificed your life for Britain from the age of 21 to 94. No time off, no complaints, just grace and honor. Oh I shall miss you my Queen, so so much.
Britain will never be the same nor will her subjects, but I think we all know what you would like Mam. You would not want us to mope (too much), and prefer we “get on with it” and above all else give King Charles a warm welcome so with tears in my ears, I address you one last time, with an aching heart, Goodbye, God Bless and Thank you your Majesty ….God Save the King!
